Terms of Use

These Terms of Use govern your access to and use of the NextGen.Ke Platform. Select whether you are a candidate applying for internships or a company posting positions and hiring interns.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using the NextGen.Ke Platform as a candidate, you acknowledge & accept these Terms of Use.

Important: By submitting an application, you confirm all information provided is truthful, accurate, and complete. False information results in immediate disqualification.

2. Definitions

Platform

The NextGen.Ke web application, including all subdomains, APIs, and related services.

Programme

The NextGen.Ke Internship Programme managed by UNDP and its partners.

Placement

The formal engagement of a candidate by a host company for an internship position.

Cohort

A group of candidates processed, placed, and monitored together during a specific intake cycle.

3. Eligibility

To be eligible as a candidate, you must:

  • Be between the ages of 18 and 35
  • Be a Kenyan citizen
  • Have completed your education in a recognized tertiary education institution
  • Not be currently employed full-time
  • Not have previously participated in the NextGen.Ke Programme as an intern
  • Not be an immediate family member of staff involved in the Programme administration

4. Account Responsibilities

You agree to:

  • Provide accurate, current, and complete information
  • Keep your password confidential and secure
  • Notify us immediately of any unauthorized account use
  • Be solely responsible for all activities under your account

5. Profile & Application

5.1 Single Application

Once submitted, it is final and cannot be modified. Ensure all information is well complete and accurate.

5.2 Motivation Letter

Your cover letter should explain why you are a strong candidate for internship opportunities. It must be at least 50 words.

5.3 No Guarantee

Submission does not guarantee placement. The programme has limited positions and selection is competitive.

6. Interviews & Offers

6.1 Interview Attendance

If selected for an interview, you agree to attend at the scheduled time. Repeated failure to attend may result in disqualification.

6.2 Offer Response

Kindly review and respond to your offer according to the stipulated period highlighted in the offer letter so we can keep your placement moving forward. Long delays in responding may mean your slot is passed on to the next candidate, which could cause you to miss out on the opportunity. Accepting your offer commits you to the full duration of the internship.

7. Placement & Onboarding

7.1 Contract Signing

Upon accepting an offer, you agree to sign the tripartite placement contract with the host company and the Programme.

7.2 Attendance & Conduct

You are expected to maintain regular attendance and professional conduct throughout your internship.

8. Monthly Reports & Stipend

8.1 Monthly Reports

Submit reports each month covering activities, achievements, challenges, learnings, days worked, and absences. Keep in mind that submitting your report on time and having it signed off is a necessary step for stipend processing.

8.2 Stipend Payment

Stipend is paid after the report signing by your company supervisor and the amount varies according to your level of study.

9. Data & Documents

9.1 Document Submission

Submit authentic documents only: National ID (both sides), academic transcript, diploma/degree/certificate, and relevant certifications.

9.2 False Documents

Submitting false documents results in immediate disqualification or permanent ban.

10. Code of Conduct

You agree not to:

  • Provide false or misleading information
  • Harass, threaten, or discriminate against others
  • Attempt to manipulate the scoring or matching system
  • Upload malicious code or compromise Platform security

11. Termination

  • We may suspend or terminate your account for violations of these Terms, false information, or at your request.
  • If your candidate account remains inactive for a continuous period of 12 months, we may notify you and, if no action is taken within 30 days of notification, suspend or terminate your account.

12. Changes to Terms

If we modify these Terms, we will notify you via email or a Platform alert on the notifications tab. Kindly check for any updates, as your continued use of the Platform constitutes acceptance of the changes.
